Am I wrong? Is that not what this song sounds like? Not The Cosby Show specifically, but some sort of 80s sitcom with a flowery couch and some nice easy chairs, and maybe some soft focus for good measure. I’m thinking specifically VHS tapes here. And older women in silk tracksuits. Angela Lansbury. Spring and watercolors. The helicopter shot from the start of Newhart.
Lyrically this is a pretty cute song about the limerance phase of love, and there’s not much to complain about vocally other than the usual people with weak vocal tones continue to have weak vocal tones. Ryeowook gets put on adlib duty at the end instead of Yesung, and it’s a little tinny until someone else (I think Kyuhyun?) comes in and starts harmonizing underneath him. But those harmonies in the choruses are solid and strong, and honestly I don’t have much to say about this other than “IT’S 80S THIS IS SO 80S.”
I will say though, there have been a lot of midtempo-or-slower major-key songs on this album. Please something a little more exciting?
